接続詞、There is(are)~

以下のように、日本語の語尾を見て、過去形なら、英語の方も過去形にしないとね。

ドアのそばに１人の女の子がいました。

×There is a girl by the door.→ 〇There was a girl by the door.

部屋には人が一人もいません。

×There is not any people in the room.→〇There are not any people in the room.

is かare　のどちらを使うのか迷う人がいると思います。「一つも～ない」で迷うのです。

There are no books　in the room.(部屋には一冊も本がありません。）

公園には人があまりたくさんいませんでした。

There are not many people in the park.

→過去形だから、There weren’t many people in the park. と、します。

教室には何人か生徒がいましたか。（過去形）

×Are　there any students in the class room?

〇Were　there any students in the classroom?　No there weren’t.

その部屋には何人の人がいますか。

×How many people in the room?

〇How many people are there in the room?

あなたの町にはいくつか図書館がありますか。

×Are there any library in your town?

〇Are there any libraries in your city?

明日は雨が多く風が強くなるでしょう。

You will have much rain,and brow will strong.

→You will have much rain and strong winds (a strong wind)tomorrow.

別解）You will have a lot of rain and strong winds (a strong wind)tomorrow.

tomorrow のスペルに注意。tomorowではない。
